Liya Saviya (Girls Decide) was a project by the Adolescent Unit of FPA Sri Lanka in which the youth involvement was highly felt. Selecting 2 most underserved districts
as target areas, where teenage pregnancies were highest, 50 Be-frienders, traveled to rural areas of the country speaking to 250 peer educators. The peer educators then in turn reached out to 2500 young girls. Sexual and Reproductive Health information and services were disseminated to young people with the aim of reducing teenage pregnancies. The 2500 young girls, together with their peer educators, learnt film making as a mode of taking important messages across and produced videos based on issues they face as young girls.
