The Sex Worker Policy Consortium is an innovative coalition of global, regional, and national organizations advocating for sex workers' rights. This alliance includes sex worker groups, community organizations, and IPPF Member Associations, operating in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Colombia, and Sri Lanka. FPA Sri Lanka is spearheading efforts in the country while striving for greater global influence on these rights.
This meeting held from the 18th - 21st of October 2024, will build trust among partners and clarify roles and responsibilities to ensure alignment on shared objectives. Key discussions will focus on our Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, grant processes, and reporting requirements. Each country team will present their work and funding plans.
The Consortium's efforts address structural, systemic, and social violence against sex workers, centered on three key areas:
1. Advocating for legal and policy reforms to enhance protections and access to justice for sex workers, including capacity-building for stakeholders like law enforcement and the judiciary.
2. Combating stigma and promoting community representation through education and awareness campaigns.
3. Fostering economic empowerment and leadership among sex workers to strengthen their organizations and ensure accountability.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit a sex worker site hosted by the Family Planning Association of the Philippines.
