FPA Sri Lanka welcomes Dr Harishchandra Yakandawala as our Medical Director with effect from November 2016. With over 20 years’ experience in the fields of Health and Education and being proficient in Programme Management of Adolescence Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS at national and district level including conflict affected and emergency situations, his presence in our Organisation is of great value.

Dr Yakandawala, is a Member of the Sri Lanka Medical Association, the College of Community Physicians Sri Lanka, UNAIDS Working Group 2000-2007 and of the Peradeniya Medical Association.

He is also currently working in the capacity of a Consultant at UNDP - Ministry of Disaster Management, University of Peradeniya and at PGIM. Some of his related assignments include:

• Public Health expert- Rapid Assessment on Transgender persons of Sri Lanka –GFATM   FPA Sri Lanka
• Public Health Expert – Technical HUB  GFATM FPA Regional Project
• Development of Funding proposal on Pre Hospital Care
• Development of  training module on Pre Hospital Care
• Development of Advocacy campaign on safety of patients during mass casualty incidents
• Rapid Assessment on SRH  services during emergencies
• Training of District Disaster Management teams on SRH services during emergencies
• Training post graduate students in MSc in Disaster Management and Diploma in Disaster Management
• Resource Person for HEDMAT and SPRINT Training
