Regulatory Pharmacist

Job Summary

The Regulatory Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring that all pharmaceutical products marketed by FPA Sri Lanka comply with national regulatory standards. This includes identifying suitable products, managing registrations and renewals, providing technical input for marketing, and supporting tender processes. The position also involves collaboration with the sales and stores team to ensure proper pharmaceutical storage and distribution in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Product Identification:

  • Identify pharmaceuticals and medical devices related to sexual and reproductive health for marketing by the organization.

  1. Technical Support:

  • Provide technical expertise and product-related information to the Marketing team to enhance product distribution, promotion and sales.

  1. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Register all pharmaceutical products and medical devices with the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

  • Ensure timely renewal of NMRA licenses and certifications.

  • Adhere to packaging, labelling and pricing regulations of NMRA and CAA.

  1. Tender Management:

  • Prepare necessary documentation for tender submissions to the Ministry of Health and other organizations.

  • Follow up on tenders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure that tender requirements are met.

  1. Storage and Distribution Compliance:

  • Monitor and support the Stores Manager and Sales Team to ensure pharmaceutical handling, storage and distribution align with NMRA guidelines.

  1. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of regulatory submissions, licenses, and compliance requirements.

  • Provide periodic updates to the management team on regulatory activities and progress.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:

    • Qualified Pharmacist registered with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) with a valid Pharmacist License.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in a government or private sector organization.

    • Proven experience in registering pharmaceuticals and medical devices with the NMRA.

  • Skills:

    • In-depth knowledge of NMRA regulations and compliance standards.

    • Strong technical expertise in pharmaceutical products.

    • Excellent coordination and organizational skills.

    • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in tender processes and coordination with government agencies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
