International Planned Parenthood Federation, South Asia Region, Regional Council Meeting was held on the 4th and 5th of August in Bangkok. Mr Chandima Gunawardena (Hony.President) and Dr Pramilla Senanayake (Hony. Vice President) represented FPA Sri Lanka at this event.

Other Member Associations that participated were FHA (Iran), FPAI (India), The Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA), Society for Health Education (SHE Maldives), FPAN (Nepal) Respect, Educate, Nurture, Empower Women (RENEW, Bhutan) and Rahnuma (Pakistan).

 Our congratulations go out to Mr Gunwaradena who was elected as Regional Treasurer. Mrs Mahtab Akbar Rashdi from Rahnuma FPA Pakistan was elected as Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee (REC) of IPPF SAR.

The Regional Council (RC) elects an executive body, the Regional Executive Committee (REC), for a three-year term. A decision-making body, its role is to oversee the performance, management and financial health of the IPPF South Asia region.
