FPA Sri Lanka stepped in to strengthen the national HIV response by donating an emergency supply of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention to the National STD/AIDS Control Programme (NSACP), Ministry of Health, with support from the International Planned Parenthood Federation – South Asia Region (IPPF/SARO).
This timely intervention aims to ensure the continuity of HIV prevention services for populations at higher risk, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s commitment to evidence-based and rights-based approaches to HIV prevention.
The official handover of the PrEP donation was made by Dr. Ruchitha Perera, Executive Director of FPA Sri Lanka, to Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, and Dr. J. C. M. Tennakoon, Director of the National STD/AIDS Control Programme.
FPA Sri Lanka continues to work closely with national stakeholders to support the delivery of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services, including HIV prevention, ensuring that no one is left behind.
