FPA Sri Lanka celebrated International Youth Day on the 15th of August 2014 from 4:30pm – 8:00pm in Sri Lankan style at the Mel’s Tea Café where the Youth Technical and Advisory Committee (YTAC) launched two short-films scripted and produced by them. The two short films, titled ‘Lost Opportunities’ and ‘One Solution’, will now serve as an advocacy tool where the young people can take the message of the importance of comprehensive sexuality education to their peer networks and also to the larger public.
With a total of approximately 80 participants from different non-governmental organizations, youth networks and UN organizations present at the event titled ‘Yes You(th) Can!’, the launch of the videos followed an interactive discussion of the issues highlighted in the videos and then finally a talk by Samuel Niruban on using creativity to promoting youth volunteerism.
A few remarks from the guests:
“The short films were amazing….wow!”
“The movies were amazing; very empowering! Thanks for the invite FPA team”
“Good job FPA, loved every bit right from the invitation to the end”
