In December 2015, International Planned Parenthood Federation’s current 10 year strategy (IPPF Strategic Framework 2005 – 2015 ) will come to an end. For FPA Sri Lanka and other Member Associations, it takes similar effect and in preparation of this and the need to formalize a new strategy, IPPF began devising the global strategic direction from 2014 by way of a series of discussions across regions.  

At the IPPF's (global) Strategic Framework meeting in Bangkok in May 2015, all Member Associations were advised to devise their Strategic Plans for the next term of 5 years, within the framework shared by IPPF by September 2015, prior to the development of Annual Programme and Budget for 2016.

As instructed, FPA Sri Lanka has been working on the formulation of the strategic plan since June with the participation of the Senior Management Team, Volunteers and senior staff members and has developed drafts on each of the areas as Strategic Drivers, Strategic Identity and Direction against the prevailing country context. On the 11^th of August, a Strategic workshop was held at FPA Sri Lanka headquarters to discuss and deliberate on these developed documents as a joint consultative process. The discussions were facilitated by Dr Nalin Jayasuriya and those present were Dr Pramilla Senanayake ( President, FPA Sri Lanka) , National Council members, Mr Nimal Weerasekera (Hon. General Secretary), Mr Ismeth Issadeen (Hon. Treasurer), Dr Esther Amaasekera (Hon. Assistant Secretary) Major Shirley Silva (Past President, FPA Sri Lanka), members of the Technical Advisory committees(TAC) together with the Senior Management Team comprising Ms Thushara Agus( Executive Director)Mr Lasantha Gunaratne (Deputy ED) Ms Madusha Dissanayake(Director HIV/AIDS and Advocacy), Mr Suhail Junaid (Director Marketing) Dr Sumithra Tissera (Director Medical), Ms Punya Hewavithanage (Deputy Director Governance) and Mr Ruwan Kannangara (Director Finance).
