The new SDP is positioned in a strategic location where access to its services can be easily utilized by the 1000’s of people who pass by on a daily basis enabling FPA Sri Lanka to serve and meet the unmet needs of this region more efficiently. 

Parallel to the opening ceremony a mega Static Clinic was organized by the Management of the SDP where the clients were able to avail the services of cancer screening (Breast and Cervical cancer) Family Planning and counselling. Over 1500 services were provided at the event. For the opening ceremony, the special invitees comprised our Executive Director Mrs Thushara Agus and her husband, Mr.R.V.P.Rajapakse (Assistant Director Outreach Unit), Ms.Amara (Senior Manager, Outreach) ,Mr.R.Jeyakumaran (Manager),Mr.Imthiyas (Programme Officer), Dr.Kirisuthan (MOH-Batticaloa), Dr.Mrs.Mathanalagan (AMOH) ,Physical health nursing sisters (PHNS) and Midwives(PHMS). 

The SDP’s provide an Integrated Package of Essential Services ( IPES) in line with local neeed and IPPF guidelines while striving to mainly reach the poor, marginalized, under-served and youth sub-sections of the population. A package of comprehensive services is provided free of cost at the service delivery points. 

These are, 

• Family Planning services  -male and female contraceptive methods
• Counselling services – for sexual gender based violence (GBV), STI/HIV testing, sexual and reproductive health issues
• Medical check-ups and treatments – subfertility diagnostic test, pregnancy test, STD and HIV test
• Information and education materials (IEC) on topics such as gender and GBV and SRHR
• Pharmaceutical services
• Provision of free contraceptives
