When the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) Policy was introduced in Sri Lanka, it led to thousands of apparel industries being established across the country. The apparel sector, to this day, attracts countless workers, predominantly youth and females.
These employees are identified as a vulnerable group to numerous SRHR issues due to the lack of knowledge on SRHR and inability to access the necessary services.
This project focuses on enabling services through Associated Clinics located in those EPZs. Our centres, established in EPZs, partner with the health centres of the factories to provide SRH services for female factory workers. These Associated Clinics are located in Koggala, Seethawaka and Wathupitiwala Free Trade Zones. In 2022, it is planned to expand the Associated Clinic model to the Districs of Ampara, Batticaloa and Nuwara Eliya.
