Youth engagement officer

FPA is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic young individuals for the position of Youth Engagement Officer, who will be responsible for implementing and coordinating Youth activities carried out in FPA.

Role Overview

The Youth Engagement Officer will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of youth-focused activities, including the ongoing Youth Advocacy Fellowship. The role requires working closely with FPA Youth members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure meaningful youth participation and effective program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support youth-led initiatives, workshops, and advocacy campaigns.

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for the Youth Advocacy Fellowship.

  • Liaise with young members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and engagement.

  • Assist in documentation, reporting, and monitoring of youth activities.

  • Contribute to content development and knowledge sharing related to youth engagement and advocacy.

  • Support organisational events and activities as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in Sinhala and English; knowledge of Tamil will be an added advantage.

  • Prior experience working with young people and youth-led projects.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and maintain a youth-friendly approach.

  • Experience in advocacy (youth, gender, SRHR, social justice, or development) preferred.

  • Educational background in social sciences, gender studies, development, social work, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge and passion for gender equality, SRHR, and youth rights.

  • Creative and proactive in problem-solving and youth engagement.

  • Previous experience in program coordination within NGOs, CSOs, or youth networks.
