FPA Sri Lanka's Youth Services Committee organized its first-ever Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme for schools, which took place at Somadevi Balika Vidyalaya in Kotikawaththa on March 7, 2024. Leading the way was Desaree Soysa, the FPA focal point for the Youth Services Committee. The event, which took place from 9 am to 1 pm, was brimming with interactivity and inclusivity.
In this insightful session, 250 students (ages 12 to 17) and staff members participated. Delving into crucial subjects such as menstruation and menstrual hygiene, pregnancy, gender dynamics, gender-based violence, online gender-based violence, and support networks, the session garnered substantial interest and engagement.
A successful session was made possible by the involvement and participation of Chairperson Saymini Perera and Youth Services Committee member Kaveesha Chathuranga, as well as Desaree Soysa's leadership.
