A two day Training Workshop for VHA’s attached to the Koggala Service Delivery Point was held under the purview of FPA Sri Lanka’s Outreach Unit,Global GAG rule, Emergency Fund Project,at the office in SDP Koggala on the 6th and 7th of July 2018. These volunteers will be mobilised at community level to strengthen the outreach work.

Sessions addressed the following topics: Importance of Sexual and Reproductive Health education and services, the reproductive health system, its functions and issues related to it, Family Planning methods , Post-natal and pre-natal care , Sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, how to develop communication skills, What is counselling?, The importance of counselling in dealing with gender based violence, what the duties and responsibilities of a Health Assistant should be and how maintain the field book to report in an accurate manner.

The dynamic Resource Persons were Dr. B.M.T. Basnayake Medical officer Teaching Hospital Karapitiya ,Miss J.D.Bhaggya Psychological Counsellor Walgama, Matara ,Mr.Sunil Senarathne - DD FPA Sri Lanka, Mr. M.O.Jayalath – Manager SDP –Koggala and Miss Udeshika Lumbini - Manager –SDP -Koggala.
