FPA Sri Lanka’s strength from its inception, has been the countless number of volunteers from diverse fields and at all levels, who give of their knowledge, expertise and time, in all sincerity to honour their commitment to serve the organization and its purpose of bringing reproductive health, education, information and solutions to people from all walks of life.

The orientation programme for current and new volunteers was held on the 8^th of April at the Head Office auditorium. The sessions were conducted by members of the National Council and Technical Advisory Committees (TAC) together with the Senior Management Team. Details are as follows: 

• FPA Sri Lanka History, evolution, operations and future directions – by Major. Shirley Silva, Past President
• An overview of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) , role of the Central Office and  operational model – by Dr Pramilla Senanayake, Past President and  current Hony. Vice President
• South Asia Regional Office (SARO),Regional Executive Committee (REC), International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF) structures & duties – By Ms. Padma Cumaranatunge, Past President
• Role of volunteers – By Mr. Chandima Gunawardena, Hony. President
• Volunteerism and youth participation – By Mr. Lal Hewapathirana, TAC Committee Member
• Volunteer participation in the Social Marketing Programme – By Ms. G.C. Dharmadasa, past Sales and Marketing Programme Chairperson, TAC Committee Member and Mr Suhail Junaid , Director Marketing
