Delivering CSE in and outside school should not be seen as an ‘either/or’. We must invest in the delivery of CSE in both formal and non-formal settings to ensure that we reach all young people.

CSE can enable young people to realize their rights, by challenging and changing social norms, by empowering young people and allowing them to make informed choices about their health.

CSE offers a key way of promoting gender equality, shifting harmful social norms and harmful notions of masculinity, and rigid gender roles and stereotypes, both in schools and the wider community and preventing violence against women and girls.

Education about consent is essential for building healthy and respectful relationships, good sexual health and protecting potentially vulnerable people from harm. Teaching young people to acknowledge and respect other people’s personal boundaries. All children and young people have a right to learn about bodily autonomy, their rights, and how to respect the rights of others.

FPA Sri Lanka conducts Comprehensive Sexuality Education workshops for adolescents in school settings and for out-of-school youth.  

Our Suwa Sewa Centre in Batticaloa conducted a three day  CSE  training Workshop  for the students of the Vocational Training Authority in Kaluwanchikudy from the 8th -10th July, 2019.
