FPA Sri Lanka’s strength from its inception has been the countless number of volunteers from diverse fields and at all levels, who give of their knowledge, expertise and time, in all sincerity to honour their commitment to serve the organization and its purpose of bringing reproductive health, education, information and solutions to people from all walks of life.
The programme included a welcome address by Aruni Akuretiyegama Marcelline, Hony. President, History, Evolution & an overview of operations of FPA Sri Lanka by Thushara Agus, Executive Director, an overview of the Social Marketing Programme by Suhail Junaid, Director – Marketing, a description of the activities of the Medical and Outreach Units by Dr. Nuzrath Nazoordeen, Director – Medical, an overview of Finance & Operations by Sureka Perera, Director – Finance and FPA’s SRH Advocacy & Policy initiatives by Sonali Gunasekara, Director – Advocacy.
After the presentations by the Unit Heads, an overview of FPA’s future direction and strategic direction for 2023-2028 was presented by Thushara Agus, Executive Director, Code of Good Governance and an overview of IPPF by Dr Pramilla Senanayake, Hony. Past President and an overview of what youth volunteerism is at FPA by Desaree Soysa, Past Youth Chairperson.
The orientation session concluded with Hony. President, Aruni Akuretiyegama Marcelline speaking on the Role of Volunteers & the recent Governance Reforms that were implemented
