FPA as the Sub recipient (SR) in Colombo & Gampaha under the new Global Fund HIV Prevention Grant, launched the Community-led HIV rapid testing with its implementing partners in Colombo, Heart to Heart (MSM Sub-Sub Recipient) and Community Strength Development Foundation (FSW Sub-Sub Recipient). This was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr Sathya Herath/NSACP, National KP Coordinator and the FPA SR Team.   

Community-led HIV Rapid testing takes place in a non-clinical setting and is performed by trained Community Outreach Workers. Testing can happen at the Community based centre or at a preferred location by the client. This is a very effective approach to reaching people at risk for HIV, especially during this challenging period for escorting clients to facility-based testing.  

FPA and NSACP conducted the CBT training for Outreach Workers in 2021. The trained Outreach Workers performed the test under medical professionals until they were competent to carry it out alone. A tool kit with a T-shirt is provided to all Outreach Workers to facilitate the Community-led testing.
