Ms Madusha Dissanayake, FPA Sri Lanka Director Public Affairs, Policy and Advocacy attended the 2016 Global South Women’s Forum on Sustainable Development organized by GADC and IWRAW Asia Pacific in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from the 27^th -30^th of September 2016. 

International Women’s Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW Asia Pacific) is an International Women’s Rights Organization established in 1993 and based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the past 22 years, IWRAW Asia Pacific has worked with national organizations and groups in more than 140 countries across the world towards the realization of women’s human rights through the application and implementation of CEDAW (The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women or the Treaty for the Rights of Women) and other international standards, at the national, regional and international levels. Gender and Development for Cambodia (GADC )is a national NGO that has almost 20 years of experience in advocacy and capacity development for Ending Violence against Women and Promoting Women in Leadership in Cambodia.

Objectives of the meeting were;

• To  create  space  for  Global  South  Women  to  discuss  how  to achieve women’s  human  rights throughout the 2030 Agenda. 
• To draft a negotiated statement by participants outlining the current  global context  for  women’s  human  rights  and  the rationale,  objectives  and  function  of  a  new  space  for  women‐led gender equality in the SDGs. 
• To develop means to ensure systematic, women‐ led review and follow‐ up processes for  gender  equality  in  the  SDGs  and  to  mobilize women’s  rights  groups  to  advance  women’s rights in the SDGs, including ‘next steps’ for the Forum 
• To negotiate an outline for a report that reflects the outcomes of the Forum, in particular  the women‐led national shadow reviews
